60年代前期

60年代後期

70和80年代

90年代至今

那是因為1993年的案件，喬迪錢德勒一家污衊邁克爾傑克遜，敲詐了邁邁近2000萬美元，再加上當時美國的種族歧視，媒體不問青紅皂白的到處宣揚邁克爾傑克遜編造出來的丑聞，導致那個時候美國人民對邁邁形象下降的不是一般，除了邁邁的死忠粉，美國大部分白人，都對邁邁產生了強烈的抵制，電視台並為了收視率，一次又一次的重復播放邁邁的丑聞，但是當中卻沒有一件是真的，「邁克爾傑克遜漂白」「邁克爾傑克遜是外星人，長生不老」「邁克爾傑克遜背叛種族」,但事實是，他患有嚴重的白癜風和紅斑狼瘡,他因此不得不用化妝來塗抹，到了後期階段，他的全身幾乎全是白色的了，只有一小塊地方是原本的膚色,而邁克爾傑克遜是外星人，更是無稽之談，當初是因為邁克爾傑克遜二級燒傷，她在燒傷中心治療的時候，好奇用來治燒傷的高壓艙，便進去體驗了一下，結果就被小道媒體污衊是外星人想要長生不老，滾石雜志可不一定公平。就像當初的格萊美，1988年，邁克爾傑克遜受邀參加格萊美頒獎典禮，邁邁的專輯bad獲格萊美獎六項提名，但卻沒有一項獲獎，眾所周知，當時是由於格萊美種族歧視，和小報記者對邁克的瘋狂炒作，一再的污衊邁邁，是邁邁沒有獲獎，88年的格萊美傷了邁邁的心，從此他便有各種理由拒絕格萊美的邀請，甚至與時間沖突同時拒絕格萊美和全美音樂獎，往後20年裡他幾乎沒有登台格萊美，這也就是邁邁獲得的格萊美獎甚至比不過碧昂絲的原因，如果邁邁是白人，他或許會締造更為驚人的一個傳奇，但是邁邁是黑人，他愛自己的種族，從未為自己是黑人而感到羞恥，他為自己是黑人而驕傲，這也為後代的黑人音樂家打下了非常好的基礎。
